At the live ceremony of the Golden Bell Awards, as stars recount the decades of Taiwanese television that have accompanied audiences through life, the stage prepares to present the ultimate honor: the Lifetime Achievement Award.
To the slow, nostalgic strains of the song "Life is But a Play" , a mysterious host named "Little Lu" suddenly makes a dazzling entrance. In a flash of theatrical magic, the entire ceremony is transformed into the stage of The Golden Jazz Night, Taiwan's first-ever television program featuring a live jazz big band! One legendary, block-busting screen anthem after another echoes through the hall, flawlessly resurrecting the golden eras of showbiz folklore. As the performance reaches its climax, time and space seamlessly shift back to the real awards ceremony, where the long-awaited winner of the "Lifetime Achievement Award" is finally unveiled...
Now in its third year, the "NTT Theatre on the Move" initiative continues to drive arts inclusivity and cultural equity through corporate philanthropic support. By partnering with performing arts troupes to bring world-class theater into local communities across Taiwan, the program launched versions 1.0 and 2.0 of If I Could Sing Another Old Love Song between 2024 and 2025. Touring seven performances nationwide and attracting over 8,000 attendees, the initiative received overwhelming acclaim, brilliantly demonstrating the venue's impact through "artistic diffusion."
This year's brand-new production, My Golden Jazz Night, marks another spectacular collaboration between the National Taichung Theater and Studio M, a creative powerhouse renowned for its musical theater productions. The showcase invites audiences to hop on a jazz-fueled time machine back to the golden age of iconic screen hits.
The repertoire curates household themes and soundtracks, including Love You for Ten Thousand Years , Justice Pao , The Empress , The Bund , and Chor Lau-Heung . From chivalrous martial arts underworlds and historical epics to heart-wrenching romances—including a special Qiong Yao Medley echoing with romantic entanglements—each melody carries the collective memory of different generations, culminating in a grand return to Life is But a Play. By reimagining classic screen memories through the lively syncopation of jazz, My Golden Jazz Night crafts a cross-generational, glitzy, and surprise-filled musical extravaganza.
In tandem with this performance, the NTT 10th Anniversary Retrospective Exhibition invites audiences to step into a corridor of time. Together, we look back at the Theater's ten-year trajectory while marching confidently toward the future. Through these deep dialogues with art, we co-create brilliant moments and welcome the next glorious chapter of the National Taichung Theater.
