Origins
The establishment of the Hsueh Man-Ling Music & Arts Workshop was sparked by a series of performances at the Historic Monuments Arts Salon, hosted by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Tainan City Government. Following its official registration with both the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the National Taxation Bureau, the workshop actively engaged in diverse performing arts events. In its early days, it spearheaded street performances formatted as formal concerts, sparking a trend in street performing arts while gradually curating themed concert productions.
Over the past two decades, the ensemble has left its mark across Greater Tainan, hosting annual regional folk music concerts in various districts. It has presented major concert productions across Tainan’s primary performing venues: Tainan Cultural Center, Xinying Cultural Center, Gui-Ren Cultural Center, Taijiang Cultural Center, and Native Theater.
Striving to be an all-around musical ensemble, the workshop comprises both professional instrumentalists and vocal performers capable of singing and dancing. Through rich, solid musical mastery and engaging vocal artistry, the troupe has won the hearts and acclaim of diverse audiences over twenty years of performance.
